| In My Day |

After arriving at the golf course and learning his golfing partner would not be there, the young man was about ready to go home when he noticed an elderly man sitting with golf clubs between his legs. The young man did not think he would really enjoy having an old man tagging alone, but nevertheless, he asked him if he would like to play a round. Things went pretty good until the third hole when the young man found himself in the rough with a pine tree in front of his ball. As he stood there trying to decide what to do, the old man said, "In my day, I would just hit the ball over the top of the tree and go on." Not wanting the elderly man to think he could do something he could not do, the young man lined up his shot and hit it with all his might. The ball soared up, hit the trunk, and bounced back about 50 yards. Feeling a mixture of emotions, the young man turned to his playing partner saying, "I thought you said you in your day you would hit the ball over the top of that tree." "Well, Sonny, I did," the old man replied, "but, in my day, that tree was only 20 feet tall." |
